A comprehensive oral examination is completed at every hygiene appointment. We use low-radiation digital x-rays, and intra-oral photography. Our patients are fully informed about their dental condition and all recommended treatment is thoroughly explained.

A dental filling is a very common procedure. Tooth decay is removed and replaced with tooth-colored composite. We have not used silver amalgam at South Brooklyn Dentist since the 1990’s.

A crown may be recommended for a tooth that has fractured or decayed. Restoration with a crown will restore the strength and appearance of the tooth. Dr. Dressel utilizes CAD/CAM technology to fabricate same-day crowns. This means that patients no longer have to wait weeks for a crown to be made in a laboratory. In one appointment a patient’s tooth is scanned and a ceramic crown is milled and inserted. No impressions, no temporaries.

When a tooth has been lost a bridge may be used to fill the space. In some cases a bridge can be an alternative to an implant. Dr. Dressel will advise and inform the patient so that he or she can make the best decision about how to replace lost teeth.

Dr. Li is a Board-Certified Periodontist. Patients who require gum treatment or a dental implant will quickly discover that Dr. Gardner is a highly skilled clinician who provides top-notch care with a warm and compassionate chair-side manner.

Dr. Kerpel is a Board-Eligible Endodontist. Patients who require root canal therapy will find that Dr. Kerpel is a confident and caring clinician who provides excellent, painless care…often in one visit.

Dental implants are used to replace un-restorable or previously lost teeth. The surgical aspects of an implant case are handled by Dr. Li. When healing is complete, Dr. Dressel will restore the implant using CAD/CAM technology to create a custom titanium abutment, and a milled ceramic crown.

Porcelain Veneers are used to improve the appearance of the smile. For over 20 years Dr. Dressel has utilized the latest materials and techniques to create beautiful smiles for his patients.

We whiten with Kor Max products which utilize an at-home whitening kit in conjunction with an in-office treatment. With custom-made whitening trays you can expect the best whitening treatment possible. Because the Kor whitening gel is not light-activated, patients experience less sensitivity while still obtaining a consistently brighter, whiter smile.

Dr. Dressel grew up on Long Island. After attending the State University of New York at Albany, he received his DDS Degree from New York University in 1993. Dr. Dressel is married and he and his wife Janet reside in New Jersey with their three children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and long motorcycle rides through the New Jersey countryside.

Dr. Maxim Podolsky strives for excellence and provides ultimate attention to detail in all of the services he provides his patients. He received his B.A., and M.S. from Adelphi Universityin 1998. In 2003 he earned his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, one of only three Ivy League dental schools in the country. While there he received his Specialty Certificate in Periodontics, serving as the Department’s Chief Resident for the next 3 years.

Dr. Podolsky provides comprehensive and innovative solutions to each of his patient’s particular oral health concerns and needs. He has a great ability to customize individual treatment plans to meet each patients’ desires, resources, and time availability. He has a calming manner and is known for his gentle touch. Dr. Podolsky is a talented surgeon whose patients and dentists appreciate the aesthetic and functional results he consistently delivers. Resident for the next 3 years.

Dr. Podolsky’s training covers all aspects of Periodontics and implant surgery, including soft tissue surgery and the Pinhole Surgical Technique (he is one of only 3,000 dentists in the world trained to perform this procedure). He is also renowned for his expertise in hard tissue reconstruction, bone grafting, gingival (gum) grafting, implants and cosmetic reconstruction. Resident for the next 3 years.

In addition to his over 15 years of experience as a practitioner, Dr. Podolsky has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at New York University College of Dentistry in the Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry for the past 14 years. He is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology and continues to lecture at numerous dental conferences on state-of-the-art implant and bone grafting techniques. Resident for the next 3 years.

A resident of Long Island City, Dr. Podolsky loves to spend time with his twin daughters and step daughter. He also enjoys hanging out with Wazy, his 1-year-old golden doodle. Dr. Podolsky is an avid tennis player and skier and has skied all over the world.

Dr. Lauren Kerpel is an Endodontist specializing in root canal procedures. She possesses extensive knowledge in surgical endodontics, one visit root canal treatment procedures and root canal re-treatments.

Dr. Kerpel graduated from the endodontic program at New York University. Prior to that, she received her doctor of dental surgery degree from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in 2007. She also completed a 3-year residency program at New York Hospital Queens and has been practicing in the New York area for over 10 years.

Dr. Kerpel is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists.

Dr. Huang is a general dentist who has been practicing in the New York area for over two decades. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997. She then trained at Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital for an additional two years as a postdoctoral fellow in advanced general dentistry to treat patients with complex and special needs.

She is friendly, detail-oriented, and takes a conservative wholistic approach to customize care in order to ensure patients are comfortable and leave the office smiling with confidence.

Dr. Huang left casual California to live in exciting Brooklyn where she enjoys the city’s energy. She also likes to collect recipes, and every once in a while to attempt them.

Hyacinth Tucker-Harris, MBA, RDH, brings over 20 years of exceptional experience from various aspects of dentistry. She received her AAS in Dental Hygiene and BS in Health Service Administration from New York City College of Technology. She later received her MBA with a focus in Healthcare Management from the University of Scranton.

Hyacinth has volunteered with several health missions where she provided oral health care and education to the underserved communities. She is confident in her abilities which makes her patients feel safe and comfortable.

When she is not in the dental office Hyacinth’s creative skills are evident in her magnificent balloon designs.

April Pollock is a dedicated Registered Dental Hygienist at South Brooklyn Dentistry, bringing a unique blend of creative, educational, and healthcare experience to her practice. With an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from New York City College of Technology, April is committed to providing top-quality care and promoting overall health.

Before transitioning into the dental field, April earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Coastal Carolina University. Her artistic background has helped shape a compassionate and patient-centered approach to dental hygiene, where listening and understanding are key to building trust and ensuring a comfortable experience for each patient.

April strives to help patients feel at ease while maintaining a healthy, beautiful smile. In her spare time, she enjoys baking sourdough bread, seeing movies at Cobble Hill Cinema, and spending time with her cats and her husband in their Brooklyn apartment.

As a dental hygienist, Daisy is committed to helping her patients achieve and maintain healthy smiles. Her approach is gentle, so that everyone can have a comfortable experience.

Larisa is originally from Russia. She has been working as a Dental Assistant for more than 15 years and has been with Dr. Dressel since 2009.

Additionally, Larisa is a certified Floral Designer. Flowers are her passion and she loves creating floral arrangements.

In her spare time, Larisa enjoys traveling and exploring the world.

Ewelina has 15 years experience as a Dental Assistant. She is also cross-trained to assist with Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. She joined the South Brooklyn Dentist team in 2015.

Originally from Poland, Ewelina graduated with a Masters in Psychology. She is the single mother of two daughters and enjoys reading, independent films, (especially documentaries) collecting vinyl records, group running, and hiking. Ewelina is very engaged in local charities.

Audri is an Office Manager with a friendly face at the front desk who likes to help people. She is happy to answer all questions and resolve any concerns. Her goal, every day, is to provide a positive patient experience.

Audri came to South Brooklyn Dentist from Atlanta, GA with a background in the Fashion & Beauty industry. She is a graduate of Ga State University with a BS in Business Administration.

Emily is the newest member to the front office team at South Brooklyn Dentist. She’s been a performer and bartender for most of her time in New York and recently made the transition to working daytime hours at South Brooklyn Dental.

On the weekends you can still find her making tiki drinks, on Smith Street, or fostering kittens in Brooklyn.

Emily brings the same friendly, funny energy to patients in the office and on the phone that she also brings to the stage.
